Luke Anderson became Head Coach Preston Spradlin’s latest transfer commitment when the 6’8 forward committed to the Dukes on Friday morning.
A Division II All-American during the 2023-24 season at Florida Southern, Anderson averages 19.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season and was named a Division II All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
A three-star recruit out of Lakeland (FL) High School, Anderson was a member of Iowa State’s 2029 recruiting class but never played a game for the Cyclones. He then transferred to South Florida, where he appeared in 4 games and averaged 1.8 points per game. Anderson joins James Madison after player three seasons at Division II power Florida Southern and will have one season of eligibility remaining.
Anderson becomes the sixth transfer into the JMU program since Head Coach Preston Spradlin took over in late March. Spradlin replaced Mark Byington, who left for Vanderbilt after leading JMU to a 32-4 record and a second round NCAA Tournament appearance.
